Tom Shelley – Head of Interior Architecture
With more than 20 years of experience, Tom Shelley is an interior designer and member of the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID), renowned for creating thoughtful, functional spaces that enhance the way people work, learn and interact.
Tom combines creative vision with technical expertise to deliver interior design projects from initial concept through to completion. His collaborative approach, attention to detail and ability to balance aesthetics with practical requirements enable him to create inspiring environments tailored to each client’s needs.
After qualifying in Interior Design at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2002, Tom gained extensive experience working on commercial and industrial projects across the UK before joining Bowman Riley’s Leeds studio in 2006. One of his first projects was the interior design of the award-winning Toronto Square development, which remains home to the practice’s Leeds office today.
Keen to strengthen his technical knowledge, Tom completed a first-class degree in Architectural Technology at Leeds Beckett University in 2014. This unique combination of design creativity and technical understanding allows him to develop interiors that are not only visually engaging but also practical, buildable and fully integrated with the wider building design.
Tom became a full member of the British Institute of Interior Design in 2017, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence and high standards of design.
Outside work, Tom enjoys cycling, spending time with his kids and renovated his self-designed home, putting his passion for design into practice.
