Building Physics Engineer

Leeds Office

Bowman Riley has an exciting new opportunity for a Building Physics Engineer to join our team.

With the continued focus on sustainable design and the wider environmental impact of the construction industry, we have an opportunity for a candidate to lead a new environmental service stream.  The candidate will be responsible for leading the service stream, adding value to all the company’s service offerings and helping achieve our sustainability targets.

This is a full-time position based at our Leeds office, where you will be an integral part of the team.

Key Accountabilities to:

  • Lead the environmental service stream
  • Grow and business develop the service to bring in new work and manage additional specialist team members as needed
  • Be client facing and represent the company positively
  • Deliver building physics work to an exemplary quality of service
  • Prepare fees and respond to formal tenders with assistance
  • Set budgets for the work to be undertaken
  • Produce building physics work that is technically correct, on time and within budget
  • Monitor and report on programme, progress, and change on building physics tasks
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of technical developments and changes to regulations and codes of practice
  • Guide and support the office environmental beacons
  • Support operational sustainability objectives by advising on carbon footprint, potential energy reductions etc.
  • Provide advice and deliver CPD sessions for colleagues
  • Offer insight and broader market knowledge and areas of potential future development beyond the scope of current, proposed business activities.
  • Become leading authority in subject area, if not already.
  • Support business development and company profile by creating content/teaching/speaking etc. on public platforms

  • Airflow and natural ventilation analysis
  • Climate and future weather analysis
  • BREEAM

Part-time HR Assistant

We have an exciting new opportunity for an HR Assistant to join our team. The exciting and varied role will offer an opportunity to support the HR manager and the people team with all aspects of the HR role and functions.

This is a part-time position where you will be an integral part of the team.

  • a qualification in HR, CIPD L3 (or working towards) or equivalent
  • good knowledge of employment law, policies, and procedures.
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • to support the HR manager and our People team in all areas of HR administration
  • to assist with onboarding, induction, offboarding and other HR procedures and processes
  • to manage the recruitment email inbox
  • to help resolve HR related queries, escalating where appropriate
  • to assist in ensuring all employee records are up to date, whilst maintaining accurate databases including holiday and absence records
  • assist in organising staff training both internally and externally, and assist in maintaining training records
  • strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • to have the ability to use own initiative
  • to assist with other ad hoc duties as required
