Fuel Forecourt and Spar Convenience Store

Fuel Forecourt and Spar Convenience Store

James Hall & Co Ltd
Wolsingham, County Durham

Bowman Riley was commissioned to design a new bespoke fuel forecourt and Spar convenience store on the site of the former Watson’s Garage and workshop in Wolsingham, County Durham.

We are providing architectural design and the role of client advisor on this project to design a new refuelling station with four fuel pumps, air and water facilities, customer car parking bays and a bespoke shop.

The layout of the site has been designed to maximise parking for non-fuel customers as well as providing a forecourt that meets the needs of local people offering five grades of fuel and ample passing room to reach parking and valet facilities.

The design of the Spar convenience store features a large glazed frontage and is in keeping with the rural character of the site.

The interior of the building blends a contemporary style with exposed services. The shop offers 3000ft2 of customer sales area with the remainder to be used as storage, office, WC, food preparation and a secure ATM room.

The provision of popular convenience food items with supplementary store offers including a deli and butchery and an ATM facility are intended to offer customers a large selection of services from one destination.
