CGG New Office Hub and Reception Refurbishment – Wales

CGG

Conway, Wales

Bowman Riley was commissioned by our existing client, geoscience company CGG, to support their move from two premises into one centralised campus bringing all their team together under one roof in north Wales.

Initially, we redesigned the reception space of their existing office and laboratory building focusing on the welcome experience. We provided layout options for CGG to select their preferred design and then produced a model to help them visualise how this would be executed including materials and finishes that represent the local vernacular using welsh slate.

Subsequently, we provided concepts and layouts for their new standalone staff hub building adjacent to their existing building.

The brief for the hub building was to provide a facility to increase productivity and efficiency by giving staff places to escape their desks and take breaks centred around a large new staff canteen with meeting rooms and studios for fitness classes. The interiors were designed to allow the spaces to also be used by the local community with independent access.

Our approach was to look at the building layout working from the inside-out to understand CGG’s spatial requirements to enable CGG to move forward with its plans.

We proposed Welsh slate to be used for the cladding of the building with the aim of using as many local materials as possible to support the local economy.
