Glista Mill Storage and Joinery Design – Skipton
Skipton, North Yorkshire
Bowman Riley designed storage solutions for an apartment within the historic Glista Mill building close to the centre of Skipton.
Our clients recently moved into a loft-style apartment with beautiful high ceilings and views across the picturesque landscape. Our brief was to provide additional storage solutions and added value to the spaces with fitted joinery that compliments the interior architecture of the apartment.
We provided designs for bespoke storage space solutions in the office area, the bedroom and a decorative display area within the kitchen. We also reviewed paint colours for the joinery and discussed future decoration schemes. We produced joinery intent drawings and specifications for each of these areas taking on board the client’s requirements for storage and practical uses while adding an aesthetic design edge with the use of beading, cornice details that tie-in with the character of the building.
The joinery intent drawings we produced for the office include a desk space for the clients to work from as well as plenty of storage for items like seasonal decorations and suitcases. Open shelving was designed to display the clients’ 200 strong DVD collection.
The master bedroom has an existing built-in wardrobe that needed a new internal layout to maximise the space as well as an additional wardrobe to provide storage for long hanging clothes, shoes and bags. The kitchen has an existing loose sideboard that our client wanted to help tie in with the kitchen by adding shelving for display, cookery books and more upper units from crockery displays.
We have kept the construction of the units simple by using inexpensive materials where possible to keep the cost down for our clients.
