Mabgate Mills Office Redeveopment, Leeds
Bowman Riley was appointed to provide interior design services for the refurbishment of the multi-tenanted Mabgate Mills complex located on the north edge of Leeds city centre.
CHP Management purchased the mill complex in 2016 with a view to increasing the quality of vacant office and studio spaces to attract new tenants across mixed sectors to create a vibrant working community.
Working closely with agents, Atkinson Associates, we assisted with a programme of refurbishment works.
Built in the early 1900s, the 65000 ft2 Mabgate Mills was once famed for its teasel process during the booming wool industry.
The solid red brick mill retains many heritage features from barrel vaulted ceilings to stone flagged floors, exposed brick and cast iron structural elements.
Bowman Riley developed a concept for the refurbishment with a standard template of materials, finishes and fittings to enable phased refurbishment to take place. Our aim was to improve the interiors to create an attractive and unique prospect for potential tenants.
Working with a graphic designer, we explored branding and identity and developed a vastly improved signage and wayfinding concept.
