Brick Veil Mosque – Preston
Bowman Riley has supported the delivery of the Brick Veil Mosque, a new landmark religious and community building in North Preston, created to meet the urgent need for a place of worship and gathering for the local Muslim community. Beyond its primary religious function, the mosque is envisioned as a welcoming civic building for meeting, learning and social connection, offering wider benefits to people of all faiths and backgrounds across the city.
We are delivering RIBA Stages 4–6, taking the concept design into a fully coordinated technical package and supporting the project through construction. The original architectural concept by Luca Poian Forms draws together Islamic architectural tradition with a contemporary reinterpretation of Preston’s Victorian mill heritage and won an RIBA design competition. The project has received strong backing from Preston City Council and, following a public inquiry, planning permission was granted by the Government.
Our role includes technical design development, consultant coordination and preparation of the full technical pack for construction, alongside ongoing architectural support through procurement and on site.
Working collaboratively with our client, consultants and contractor, our focus is on safeguarding the architectural intent while ensuring technical robustness, buildability and long-term performance.
The Brick Veil Mosque is set to become one of Preston’s most distinctive new buildings, a symbol of faith, inclusivity and architectural ambition.
