Skipton Building Society Branch – Clitheroe, Lancashire
Bowman Riley was appointed by Skipton Building Society to modernise its Clitheroe branch with the aim of bringing the building in line with the organisation’s latest branch standards. A key requirement of the project was to maintain branch operations wherever possible, which required a carefully considered phased approach to the works.
The refurbishment introduced a range of new customer-facing elements, including a redesigned counter, an improved meet-and-greet station, new admin desks, and an upgraded tea point for staff. High-quality timber slat feature walls and glazed partitions were installed to modernise the interior aesthetic, while new flooring, ceilings, and refreshed decorative finishes were applied throughout. Externally, the shopfront received a full refurbishment along with upgraded signage. The project also delivered significant M&E upgrades. All asbestos removal was undertaken in strict accordance with CDM regulations.
Sustainability was an important consideration throughout the project. Wherever possible, existing structural elements were retained and reused to minimise waste. Energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems were installed to reduce ongoing energy consumption, and durable, low-maintenance finishes were selected to lower long-term lifecycle costs.
The completed refurbishment of Skipton Building Society Clitheroe resulted in a modern, open-plan branch environment that significantly improves the customer experience and creates a more welcoming atmosphere. The redesign has increased operational efficiency and ensured that the branch complies with current health, safety and accessibility standards.
