This time, we meet Colin Briggs-Campbell, who became part of the Bowman Riley team in 2009.
Can you describe Bowman Riley in 3 words?
Family, culture, people
What’s been your career highlight to date?
This is a tough choice between working on the delivery of the amazing Grantley Hall Hotel alongside some excellent colleagues to realise the transformation of a Grade II* Listed property into a high-end hotel… or winning my first award for a small domestic extension and renovation in the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority way back when…
Which of our values resonates the most with you and why?
Inclusivity. I’m so passionate that people feel comfortable in who they are and to bring this to their career. I love being part of the RIBA EDI Action Group which helps me continue to learn best practise
Have you got any new personal goals for 2026?
Improve my active listening skills through frequent practise at key meetings and one-to-ones
What advice would you give someone entering our industry?
Be proactive, say “yes” and push your comfort zones (within reason). Identify what’s important to you (and don’t feel you need to conform to ‘norms’). You’ll get to where you want to be stronger, faster and with the support of your network
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
Scotland. The more rural and remote the better
What’s your favourite film?
Err… I’m happy to watch a film but I never remember the plot!
Favourite song?
Freed from Desire by Gala. It’s a classic 90s tune that always gets me on the dance floor!
Do you prefer dogs or cats?
Can I say neither?? I had a cat once, but we didn’t get on.
A good night out or a mug of tea and a good film?
Probably a good night out. Not necessarily out every time until the early hours, but seeing friends, trying new restaurants are all things I look forward to lots
