Coral Pickles – Architectural Assistant Part I

Coral recently graduated with a BA (Hons) in Architecture from Newcastle University, where she explored a diverse range of design projects.

During her education, she developed a particular passion for retrofit architecture, inspired by the opportunity to celebrate the relationship between historic and contemporary design within existing buildings. This interest culminated in her final-year project, which reimagined the former Peter Smiths’ Antiques building in Sunderland as the new home for the National Glass Centre.

Alongside her studies, Coral completed work experience placements with Bowman Riley during both her second and third years at university, gaining valuable industry experience and expanding her architectural knowledge and technical skills. She has since joined the practice full-time while continuing her professional development by studying for a part-time MArch at Sheffield Hallam University, combining academic learning with hands-on project experience.

Outside of work, she enjoys taking long walks with family, cooking and travelling.
