Harrogate Town AFC Environmental Graphics

Transforming an underused stadium space into an atmospheric bar with an unmistakable sense of Harrogate Town AFC identity.

CREATING A DISTINCTIVE HOME SUPPORTERS’ BAR

Bowman Riley Creative worked alongside our interior design team to transform an underused stadium area into a dedicated bar for Harrogate Town AFC’s home supporters. The existing space was narrow and utilitarian, with exposed blockwork and a strong industrial character. The graphics needed to introduce warmth, energy and a clear sense of club identity while working with, rather than concealing, the existing architecture.

REINTERPRETING THE CLUB’S VISUAL IDENTITY

We developed a series of large-scale diagonal graphics inspired by angular elements within Harrogate Town AFC’s brand. Rather than directly repeating existing artwork, the club’s visual language was reinterpreted as an environmental graphic that responded to the proportions of the interior and movement through the space. The bold yellow, black and white palette connects the bar to the club while remaining appropriate for the industrial character of the existing stadium environment.

GRAPHICS INTEGRATED WITH THE ARCHITECTURE

The graphics were painted directly onto the exposed blockwork, travelling across walls, around corners and over architectural features. Integrating the motif into the fabric of the interior allowed it to feel like a permanent part of the space rather than decoration applied after the design was complete. Close coordination with Harrogate Town AFC and Bowman Riley’s interior designers ensured the graphics complemented the materials, lighting and wider interior scheme. The illuminated “Proud to be Town” living wall provides a focal point behind the bar, combining club messaging, planting and lighting to create a memorable backdrop.

STRENGTHENING THE MATCHDAY EXPERIENCE

The completed supporters’ bar has a strong sense of place and identity. The environmental graphics bring energy and continuity to the narrow space while helping it feel connected to the wider Harrogate Town AFC experience. The result is a purposeful and atmospheric interior that feels unmistakably Harrogate Town. Could environmental graphics bring greater identity and character to your interior? Bowman Riley works alongside clients, architects and interior designers to develop graphics that respond to the brand, building and people using the space.
