April Marsden a Finalist in the Architect of the Year Category at Women in Construction and Engineering Awards
We are incredibly proud to celebrate April Marsden on being shortlisted as a finalist in the Architect of the Year category at the European Women In Construction & Engineering Awards 2026. The recognition is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the dedication, leadership, and expertise April brings to her work every day.
The awards champion the achievements of women across the construction and engineering sectors while encouraging greater diversity within the industry. In the UK, women currently represent just 11% of the construction workforce, with only 2% working in manual roles. By celebrating inspiring role models and industry leaders, the awards aim to encourage more women to consider careers in the built environment and support businesses in creating more inclusive workplaces.
At Bowman Riley, April leads a specialist architectural team focused on delivering thoughtful, sustainable, and future-ready design solutions. She works collaboratively with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure every project is shaped by innovation, strong partnerships, and the intelligent use of emerging technologies. Her particular interest in modular construction and off-site fabrication helps drive efficient and sustainable outcomes, while maintaining the highest standards of design quality and integration.
Alongside her professional work, April is a passionate advocate for diversity within the built environment. In 2024, she served as Regional Chair for the Yorkshire and North East branch of Women in Property and continues to support the organisation as an active committee member.
The awards ceremony, held last week at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London Tower Bridge, was an inspiring celebration of the remarkable women shaping the future of construction and engineering.
