In Memory of Steve McDonald

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the sad news that our friend and long-standing colleague, Steve McDonald, passed away peacefully on 9th August, surrounded by his loving family.

After 14 months of treatment for cancer, Steve leaves behind his wife Rachel, son Sam, and daughter Jasmin. Our deepest thoughts and condolences are with them during this incredibly difficult time.

Steve joined Bowman Riley in 1994 and was promoted to Associate in 1999. Over his 30-year career with us, Steve became a central figure in our team, not only as a highly skilled and dedicated architect, but also as a trusted friend.

Steve led with quiet determination and was instrumental in successfully delivering numerous retail, energy and commercial developments.

Steve was respected for his professional achievements, humour, and calm presence. He embodied loyalty, resilience, and integrity.

Outside of architecture, Steve enjoyed playing the drums, ten-pin bowling, and spending quality time with his family on long walks.

Steve was a part of the fabric of Bowman Riley, and his loss will be felt profoundly across the entire practice. His legacy lives on in the projects he helped shape, the people he mentored, and the friendships he forged.

We will miss him.
