Land Rover Experience – North Yorkshire
Bowman Riley has designed a new Land Rover Experience Centre at the Coniston Hotel and Estate in North Yorkshire, responding to growing demand for professional off-road driving training across the region.
Land Rover’s North Yorkshire driving experience originally operated from Coniston before relocating to Skipton in 2015. While 4×4 driving activities continued on the estate, they were no longer delivered as an official Jaguar Land Rover experience. This proposal marks the return of a fully accredited Land Rover Experience, elevating Coniston’s long-standing connection to off-road driving.
The scheme repurposes the former Falconry Centre, which has been vacant for several years, transforming it into a modern facility that supports business expansion and meets Jaguar Land Rover’s exacting brand and operational standards. The existing estate building will be largely retained, with a new entrance and a glazed curtain wall replacing the redundant barn doors to create a welcoming customer view across the landscape.
Complementing this is a new timber-clad corporate building housing workshops, storage, and car parking. Designed to echo the estate’s agricultural character, the structure sits comfortably within its rural setting while providing modern, fit-for-purpose facilities.
Working closely with the Coniston Estate, Bowman Riley secured planning consent from North Yorkshire Council, enabling the business to expand and diversify. The new centre will deliver essential driver training for everyday motorists, advanced off-road instruction for blue light services and utility providers, and a range of specialist driving courses, positioning Coniston as a leading destination for off-road driving excellence in North Yorkshire.
