Land Rover Experience – North Yorkshire
Bowman Riley designed a Land Rover Experience Centre at Coniston Hotel and Estate in North Yorkshire, bringing the official off-road driving experience back to its original home and responding to growing demand for off-road driving and training in the region.
The new purpose-built facility has repurposed a former Falconry Centre, which had stood vacant for several years, transforming it into a modern, fit-for-purpose home for Land Rover Experience. The existing estate building has been sensitively renovated, with a new entrance and glazed curtain wall replacing the redundant barn doors to create a welcoming customer arrival and views across the surrounding Yorkshire Dales landscape.
A new timber-clad building provides workshops, storage and parking, designed to complement the agricultural character of the estate and sit comfortably within its rural setting.
The centre offers a range of off-road driving experiences and provides Young Off-Roader experiences for 11–17-year-olds, as well as specialist professional training for organisations, including emergency services and utilities.
The development strengthens Coniston Estate’s visitor offer while creating a new commercial use for a vacant building. It also restores the estate’s long-standing connection with Land Rover, which originally operated from Coniston before relocating in 2015.
Working closely with the Coniston Estate, Bowman Riley secured planning consent and delivered a scheme that combines sensitive reuse, commercial growth and high-quality new development, supporting the return of an established brand to Coniston and positioning the estate as a leading destination for off-road driving.
