Wharfe View – Burley in Wharfedale, Ilkley

Bowman Riley was appointed as architect by MMR Developments to design Wharfe View, an exclusive collection of six luxury family homes at the entrance to the regenerated Greenholme Mills development in Burley in Wharfedale.

Occupying the site of the former mill pump house, the new-build homes form an important part of the wider transformation of the historic riverside mill complex, creating a distinctive arrival to the development while responding sensitively to its industrial heritage and picturesque setting beside the River Wharfe.

Our architectural design draws inspiration from the site’s history, ensuring the homes sit comfortably within their historic context while providing contemporary accommodation for modern family life. Reclaimed stone from the demolished pump house has been incorporated into the buildings, while the distinctive M-shaped roofscape references the character and rhythm of the former mill buildings.

Each home has been carefully planned to maximise natural light and take advantage of the riverside setting. The homes feature spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living spaces, principal bedrooms enjoy elevated views across the river with private gardens, off-street parking and access to the residents’ gym.

As architect for both Wharfe View and the wider Greenholme Mills regeneration, Bowman Riley developed a cohesive architectural approach that respects the site’s heritage while delivering high-quality new homes. Wharfe View complements the successful regeneration of Greenholme Mills, providing distinctive luxury homes that celebrate the site’s industrial legacy while embracing contemporary riverside living.

Now completed, the homes are for sale through Dacre, Son & Hartley.
