The Electric Press – Leeds City Centre

Bowman Riley was appointed by Construction North Group to contribute to the Electric Press refurbishment project, which revitalised a Grade II-listed building in Leeds city centre.

The Electric Press is a mixed-use building that houses various restaurants, bars, and a community theatre. Construction North Group’s project involved adding office space to the building over three floors.

We were appointed to contribute a small but vital piece of work under the contractor’s design portion of the project, aiming to ensure the original design and technical requirements were upheld on the rooftop terrace pod.

We introduced a more cost-effective material that remained within the contractor’s skill set. The use of timber frames allowed this while preserving the project’s architectural design.

Our innovative and cost-effective rooftop terrace pod solution contributed to the project’s success, maximising the building’s use and helping to preserve this listed landmark.
